David Beckham

It doesn't matter which team David plays for, the team gains befefits. Even though David's first game for LA Galaxy was not as popular as everyone predicted, the Galaxy still benefited in the long run. Every team David has played for has gained more money revenue due to jersey purchases and stadium seating tickets. Often times, David's bigger, more popular games, would get completely sold out.

If you take a minute to think about this, it's actually mind blowing. The fact that the team or the sponsoring company has earned millions of dollars just off of one individual is incredulous. David Beckham is so loved, admired, and adored, that people would buy his jerseys and purchase tickets just to see him in action, when you can watch it on tv for free.

After being dismissed from his England International team, Beckham was often re-called to play in matches. Whether it was a friendly match, or in an important tournament, Beckham would never refuse the offer to play with his team again. Beckham, after being being deprived of his Captaincy, regained his title only two years later (although temporarily). This event in David's career proves to everyone that his team not only missed David, but required his help in order to defeat their opponents. After finally being dismissed from playing with England, David told the manager he would always be open to play for them.

Although David is already a famous super-star athlete, he is still in love with football. His love for the game is like nothing I have ever witnessed with a football player. I've never heard of a man telling his team he would never refuse the opportunity to play with them again, even after being taunted and threatened (after the World Cup in 1998), and getting dismissed twice from the team. David's passion for football

Now don't get me wrong, I don't approve of everything David Beckham has done in his personal life and his football career, but that doesn't mean I don't respect him. Granted, all of England despised Beckham after the red card he received in the 1998 World Cup Series in France against Argentina, but he quickly regained everyone's trust and appreciation. Despite cheating on his wife, people still love and adore Beckham with almost a God-like status. Even his wife still took David back, proving he means too much to her to just throw away everything they have between them. He has worked hard throughout his football career, and put in many hours of time and dedication into training to get better. His coaches admired his self-discipline and responsibility not only as an athlete but as a person. He has lead his team to great victories, and has never once turned his back on his teammates.

Upon joining the Los Angeles Galaxy club team, David Beckham was annointed Captaincy. Meaning, he would get to wear a fancy arm band that reads "Captain" on it, and it also grants him more respect and admiration. For a person to be the Captain of England, become utterly famous in Britain and Spain, and then become Captain instantly for America's club team is phenomenal. I don't think Beckham once demanded to be Captain of the Galaxy; but instead, his teammates somewhat expected the change of captains, and hadn't seemed to mind in the slightest bit. Beckham would grow to be great friends with his teammates, and a hu

When the Beckhams first arrived in Los Angeles, David was quite nervous. And although he was a superstar, he was profound with punctuality and always showed up early. When David Beckham showed up at the Home Depot Center to receive his #23 jersey, he arrived about thirty minutes early. Even the coach was stumped as to why a person of such fame and popularity would arrive early, instead of late.

This trait about Beckham shows he is not a self-conceited person. Although he knows he is one of the best footballers in the MLS, he still presents himself as an ordinary guy just trying to fit in with the rest of us. I admire everything about Beckham, from his ball handling skills to his personality traits, Beckham is a real role model for several people, not just Americans.

David Beckham has a trademark shot, which is an incredible bend put on the ball, usually off of free kicks. I think David is best known for his free kicks. He has the ability to send the ball 35 yards, over a wall of defenders, and past the goalie into upper-ninety territory. He has a deadly foot, and an even deadlier determination for the sport.
I think Beckham's most famous goals are: his half-field shot against Wimbledon. Beckham had seen the opposing goalkeeper off of his line, and sent the ball soaring through the air, only to crash into the back of the net.
His other most famous goal is a goal from 70 yards away. Although the Kansas City Wizards keep was not in the box, it is still a remarkable goal. I understand if you don't care for David Beckham, but you have to respect him.

David met Victoria after a Manchester United match in 1997. They started dating, and two years later got married. This marriage was a huge media event, since a member of the Spice Girls and a famous footballer of great skill, accruacy, and modesty, were soon to be together until death due them part.
Although Victoria was five months pregnant, and the two were engaged, David cheated on her with ex-nanny Rebecca Loos and Emma Ryan. He would eventually cheat on Victoria again with Sarah Marbeck and Celina Laurie.

David and Victoria are still together, forgetting about the past and living the future. I don't think I'd be with someone who cheated on me four times, but who am I to get in the way of true love? If Victoria thinks they need to be together for the children, then they need to be together. Hopefully

David Beckham's decision to come to America to play on Los Angeles Galaxy was a critical decision to make. The announcement stirred great media attention and criticism. I personally admire his decision. He chose to seek a new challenge for his soccer career, and it proves that he take's his occupation seriously. Although Alex Ferguson, manager of Manchester United, claims his wife and family are distractions, it's hard to blame David. With an ex-Spice Girl for a wife, three boys, and another child on the way, it's almost impossible to not get distracted.
Although Beckham is a man of great skill, and is extremely popular, he is actually very shy. His first day in the locker room of the Galaxy, Beckham claimed it was actually kind of awkward, and he didn't talk much because he was nervous and shy. This just goes to show you that David doesn't think he's some big hot shot.

After a humiliating defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup, Manchester United hung their heads in disappointment. The locker room after the game silent, that is, until Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson entered the locker room. Outraged by the defeat, Ferguson kicked a poorly aimed football cleat. The cleat ended up hitting David Beckham above his left eye, causing Beckham to receive stitches. Ferguson had not purposely aimed the cleat towards Beckham's face, so eventually David let it slide. He described Ferguson as a fatherly model and told people it was more of a family fued gone wrong.

World Cup, 1998. David Beckham, only 23 years old at the time, was fighting for right back winger against teammate Darren Anderton. After scoring off of a famous penalty kick against Columbia, Beckham was granted the position in the match against Argentina. A couple minutes into the second half of the match, Argentina player Digeo Simeone ran into Beckham, causing him to fall to the ground. Out of anger and stupidity, David gave a light flick of his leg and kicked Simeone. The result: a redcard. Referee Kim Milton Nielsen had no choice but to pull the redcard, sending David off of the field. With England playing with only ten players, they would eventually lose the match in the shootout overtime. Beckham arguably became the most hated man in England. There were dummies hanged with a Beckham jersey on and pigs with David written across the forehead.

In reality, David didn't really do much, but it was a stupid and costly mistake. It took Beckham quite awhile to gain respect back from his fans.
